Diary of Robert Hunter Morris, 1735-1749.

Diary kept by Morris when he accompanied his father, Lewis Morris, on a trip to London to represent a group of New Yorkers (1735 Apr. 17-1736 Jan. 4). Includes entries on London business and social life, domestic affairs, and travel notes. Also diary entries (1749 Dec. 16-19) while Morris was in London as the agent of the Proprietors of East New Jersey.

Lewis Morris first served as a member of Governor Cornbury's Council for the province of New Jersey. Due to conflict with Cornbury, Morris was removed and, later, elected to the New Jersey Assembly. Under the administration of Robert Hunter, Morris became chief spokesman for the New York Assembly in 1710 and was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the province of New York in 1715.
